Default Metra Double DIN Kit vs. Carson Kit

All:

Getting ready to install a Pioneer AVIC-F700BT in my 2001 GS 300, and was wondering if anyone could tell me the color of the Carson Kit, which is located here:

http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1726

The Carson kit runs $50, versus the Metra kit, which is $15:

http://retailer.installationexcellen...hicleid=101587

I looked at the Metra kit, and it is black, rather than the gun metal gray of the existing trim around the stereo and climate control. Has anyone installed the Carson kit, and if so, can you please verify if it matches the existing trim? The Metra is close enough for government work, but I'd rather have an exact match if possible.

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

I had a Metra and then got a Carson when I put my new radio, no comparison. Carson FTW. Matches perfectly.

Carson kit (OEM Toyota Japan) for the win.

No comparison.

Comes with the ISO-mount brackets and the face plate matches PERFECTLY.

I have dealt with the Metra kits in the past - they work, but are more
appropriate for use in Saturns and Chevy pickups.

Black textured ABS plastic is NOT sexy!

I bought the Carson kit, but the face plate didn't fit properly. It had gaps on both ends (too small) anybody else have this problem?

I've had mine for about a year and a half now and no problem since day one. Maybe you got a defective one.

Metra FTW!!!

I have metra in my car right now. I'm not too fond of the textured plastic feel/look, but I dont think Carson kit allows me to do (2) 1DIN. If anyone can verify this, I will be all over it!
