Ordering parts from Japan
Hey guys, do any of you have experience ordering parts from Japan? Namely from Yahoo Auctions Japan and possibly using a broker service to import them? I know some of you are fluent in Japanese and also some have friends/family there. How do you guys usually get your parts? Thanks!

When I order from Japan the guy is very sketchy. He labels the items as DEMO's or SAMPLES, he also has labeled one item as a GIFT.
This way he doesn't have to pay any fees, nor do I. Unless it goes under customs inspection then he will get busted.
He also instead of listing my name he made up a company name out of my realy name lolol like SHiZNiLTi Auto Parts.
So as of now I've yet to have any issues. All shipments used DHL.

Is this guy a "publicly" available place or just a friend? I'm interested in ordering a few parts, nothing too big and am trying to find the safest/most reliable way I can. I know some of you guys have done it in the past just trying to get feedback about the best route to take.

We import items all the time from Japan, there are customs fees, broker fees, taxes, duties, freight, etc..........if there smaller items EMS works well. I've been doing it for 10 years now so the only problems I run into is when customs tags my container at the port and does the full exam on it
I can check on your items if you want, just PM me

yo macd,,, so i believe i met you a while back and whatever... but my wife is japanese and we/ mainly she orders stuff all day long from japan. some companies gladly ship to the u.s some gladly don't... the ones that dont she just has sent to her friends and family who then ship it to us. depending, i might could assist you if need be.
i'm trying to put in an order for some vip mags presently. vip car, and vip style are like 20 each if you use this company to ship them directly but her friend is gonna buy them and send them to us for cheaper.. kinda ghetto but it works... and btw the u.s just raised the prices of all their international shipping and fees and all like way more than they should have..

I saw that when I went there, that seems to be about the standard across the board for import companies. alot of them don't give you any idea of shipping rates though so you could *possibly* get stuck with whatever shipping fee they choose to give you.

Its a pain in the a$$ if you dont know what your doing. I work in a Freight Forwarding Company and I deal with this everyday. Usually when I get a person who plans on shipping relatively small items I would advise them that it would be more wise to use a courier service. Cost wise would be cheaper and you wont get billed bogus fees. (UPS, Fedex..ect..) If you go thru a guy like SHiZNiLTi uses then he declares these good as gifts, samples or demos as there will be not duties applicable.
Now if you are shipping like Steve from Carson then its a whole different ballgame.. He is probably shipping 20'/40' full container loads..and much more involved then your standard Courier door to door service.
