Default A ticking noise

1999 Lexus GS 400 166k miles. I have a Ticking noise that is coming from the drivers side valve cover. Sounds like a lifter but when I take the valve cover off the noise isnt as loud. Ive owned for a year and the noise has always been there.hasn't got any louder from day one Im wanting to sell it now but I want to fix the problem first. any clues to check

try adding some lucasoil fuel system cleaner to your tank when you fill up next, it could be just a noisy injector. Had a few of those myself (01 gs3 with 129k) and it quieted the motor right down.

I too would try some good fuel injector cleaner, such as the Lucas and see if that works.

Its not the injectors. I unplug each one as it was running, noise is still there. If it was one of them it would of stop.

Maybe valves chattering, have them re-adjusted, that is what I would think if it's not the injectors.
