prepping for a 1400+ mile road trip in the gs..
So I'm planning on making a trip to Miller Motorsports park in Utah mid September with a buddy will be hopefully driving a RX8 in the Grand Am Rolex sports car series. In case you're curious, car looks like this:
It's a little over 1400 miles round trip, not including driving around the race track, to and from hotel and track, food, etc. We'll also be stopping off in Vegas on the way back for Interbike.
brakes have a lot of meat, new air filter, tires will be pretty fresh, and trans fluid is fresh. My car has about 154k miles on her right now, and I'm planning on doing plugs and oil change before I leave. As far as tools, I'll have a set of ratchets and a battery jump box.
Are there any maintenance items I should look at or other tools I should bring just to be safe?
Maintenance:
-plugs
-oil change
-flush rad fluid (going to add some redline water wetter too!)
-top off all fluids
-cabin filter
-tire press (check spare also)
tools:
-ratchets
-jump box
-screwdrivers
-extra key

I think you got everything pretty much covered, just check your tire PSI and drop in a clean air filter. Also, make sure the spare tire has the proper air just in case you need to use it.
Fill up on windshield washer fluid, highway driving - you will need it...lol

when I bought my car I trekked 2000 miles from Salt Lake City. Car had no problems and to this day I would not hesitate to take the GS on a road trip. Take tools with you ie: ratchets, screwdrivers. I would torque the wheels before you leave. Make sure all of the fluids are topped off, clean your air filter and change your cabin air filter. Other than that you should be good to go.

As mentioned before, make sure your spare has air in it. Make sure the fluids are fresh and don't leave any service items until the week before just in case a leak develops etc.
Make sure your ball joints are fresh and your alignment is straight also that your wheels are torqued correctly and brake pads have enough life in them to make it.
I just did 2700 miles in my Gs in June and I'm leaving in two weeks to do it again, this will be my third 2700 mile trip in my Gs.

Sounds like a good trip Felix
There's going to be alot of bug splatters
Seems like you got it covered.
You're putting the 16 stockers back on right?
This is what I would bring also:
1. An extra set of keys
2. Portable power supply with an air compressor. Just in case you need to pump the tires.
3. Flashlight
4. Lots of munchies
Don't forget to take lots of pictures and drive safe

hahaha, you guys are too funny... condoms... band aids..
Chris, definitely 16's since running my 19's only allows for about 1500 miles of tire life.. and spare key is def a good one!
dan, 1700 miles is right where i should be at!
