Lexus Fanatic
I am not a fan of that stick on wood kit that went around the window switches, stereo, and speed/rpm gauges. I sat in a car that had it and it looked way overdone, cheap, and ugly. The wood did not look or feel reel and I think it was fake. I would not have bought a GS with that kit.
I would love to either buy or make my own wood pieces and replace the current wood with a light birds eye maple. It would be an interesting project to do but would probably be more difficult then I think and I am sure I would run into fitment problems but a nice tan birds eye maple like what is in the Audi A8 or Bentley Continental GT would be really nice in a GS.

I just want to add the additional wood treaments to the shift console area. I like how the new GS console surrounds look and I think that using these stick on wood kits for that area solely would look pretty nice. Adding this kit on the ash trah assembly would be ok for me also, as I have purchased and returned an OEM unit from my local Lexus dealership as the color of the wood was way redder than my stock stuff.

dang didnt see this. yup the shift **** is luxis and its not expensive. the dash kit is made by sherwood. the double din was one off but ive referred a bunch of peeps to them asking for it, so they may stock it now. its a pretty close match to the stock, but its a little more orange i think, im color blind.
and i wish i could get a wood wheel but im in a 99 and i dont wanna spend a g on it

Hey, how did you do the Bird's Eye Maple?
I have been considering some additional wood but not too much. I have the Bird's Eye stock in mine and was thinking of doing the gauge cover and the roof control cover. Keep it conservative.
The other idea would be to completely remove all traces of wood for something else. Marble or whatever would go with the black exterior and tan interior.
Man, if my wife knew about all these ideas in my head she'd flip out. It's all wasted money to them you know? She makes fun of me because I try to wash the beast once a week. It's a black car for Pete's sake! LOL
