Default New GS400 Owner

What's up everyone! I just took posession of a very clean black 98 GS400 yesterday. This is my very first Lexus, and the price was right. I got the car for $5600, and it has 201K miles on it. I am not afraid of the miles, because the previous owner was a businessman and I was told it was all highway miles. I picked it up from a Toyota dealer who had it on their lot. Funny how you decide to go out and buy a car. There was no plans, I was not researching Lexus cars at all. I was at Tacocabana eating lunch yesterday, and decided to go look. The Toyota dealer happened to be open, and well the rest is history. With that said, what kind of maintenance do I need to be looking to do or watching out for at this kind of miles? The things I plan to take care of today is the cracked winshield, and next week I plan to get the front bumper painted as well as replace a foglight.

Here are some pics. What do you think?

Welcome to Club Lexus. You'll find a lot of useful information here from devoted car enthusiasts. Congratulations on the purchase. Since this was an impulse buy, you should take it to the dealer and have it checked out (should have had it done before you bought it), and serviced. They should have a service interval listed for what you need done at 200K, but you should just have everything checked out anyway. Any mods planned?

As of now, no mods planned. Not going to rule anything out yet.

I checked with the local Lexus Dealership, and it looks like the previous owner stopped taking it to Lexus in 2003 at 79K miles. So my plan is to schedule it for a timing belt and waterpump for piece of mind and all. I am curious about the transmission. What kind of service should be done?

1. oil change- even if its new. ull feel a lot better knowing whats in the engine.
2. spark plugs- its been well over 120k since last check up.
These are both cheap DIY's that will hopefully keep u going another 201k miles. Congrats.
