Default Indicator light just came on at 93K miles

I have a Lexus Gs300 2001 model. The H light just came on.It is called the Malfunction indicator lamp. per the manual page 46

I checked the manual.it said it could be

A.Fuel tank is empty(its over half full)
B.Fuel tank cap not tighten sufficiently(it is tight)
c.There is a problem somewhere in the the engine electrical system.

Ive checked all the fluids and everything is where it is supposed to be and on time for changes.Only electrical problem is about 4 weeks ago the electrical seat switch that selects the driver side comfort position quit working.

It says to take immediately to the Lexus dealer but its a bad time to be putting money into the car.

Any suggestions of what to check?

Car is running at proper temps and doing well.Where would be a good place to go just to have the on board computer checked?A lot of this stuff I can probably do myself such as change out solenoids and stuff If I know where to start.

Thanks

Well to minus out the gas cap.. go to a smog shop and have them check the cap to see if its holding pressure. It may SEEM tight (and it probably is), but the seals may be bad. The smog shops have that "pump" (kind of like a ***** pump ) seriously, anyways that they put it on.. if its leaking a bit, MAY trigger that light... Better to eliminate the cheap stuff before really haveing to go to the dealer...

Thanks for the reply.

I did some research on here and found out where if you remove the battery terminal for 15 min it resets those things. It went off and is not back on .MY only guess is that I did not have the cap tight.I had just bought gas a hour before so that make sense.
