Reading the trans dipstick...
I brought my GS400 into my friends shop to have the fluid evacuated using one of those machines. I checked it yesterday when it was hot and it was right at the top of the dipstick. I decided to check it today after driving about 45 minutes (while the car was running) and I noticed that the fluid level was about an inch past the hot mark. I have never seen this type of dipstick before...so should I bring it back in and have fluid drained out?
Also I noticed that it shifts just a tad harder than before. I used Toyota brand fluid that I got at Lexus.
Will driving it with the level it's at hurt the tranny?

It's gotta be better than being an inch below the "hot" region, haha.

Try wiping it dry and checking it a second time.
It kind of looks like there is extra fluid on the top part from the car running.

Did you put your car in neutral, with the hand brake down to check the tranny fluid? You should do it that way. It's much more efficient.
Oh, wipe it down again, and if it's still in the same spot, have him remove about 1/2 quart.

I thought about that, called Lexus and they said the right way was in Park. I had them drain about 1/2-3/4 out so it looks good now.

I've never heard of checking it in neutral, you're supposed to check in park.
is that the factory dipstick, my GS430 dipstick is not that style? I didn't know the 400 was different.
