So I've searched but couldn't really come up with any real measurements..... A website I looked at said 7.6 seconds 0-60.
I really doubt that. The car doesn't feel all that sluggish.
Does anybody know what it really is?

no, that's correct. the 1gen is 9.6 0-60.
its largely due in part to the tranny, being the luxury car it is they engineered it to shift softly, and it takes FOREVER to make that first shift. also, the trans starts off in 2nd gear, not helping low end acceleration.

7.6, 7.8, 8.0 isn't necessarily going to feel "sluggish." It's all relative.
That's middle of the pack for similar cars of a similar age.
Someone posted a Car and Driver comparison from the early 80s and the 2Gen GS300 would have been right in there with the Corvette, Z Turbo, and Ferrari 308 GTS. None of those were called sluggish. The Ferrari at 7.6 0-60 was described as "long-legged, thrusting kind of power."

That's interesting...... GS3 makes 220hp with 220 ft lb or torque while the GS4 makes 300 hp with 310 ft lb of torque which translates to 1 second off 0-60 for every 40hp increase. o_0

People underestimate the Lexus GS all too often.
If you powerbrake a bit these things will really jump off the line.

My mom's '91 Infiniti Q45 has the same 2nd gear start, only starts in 1st if you floor it. It can make the car seem sluggish off the line.
I have a GS400 and think I may have heard that this car also has the 2nd gear start, does anyone know if this is true?
