Default Lighting Question

Hello to my fellow GS owners. New to the site. Owned my 2002 GS3 for about a year now. I noticed that some (2nd gen) GS owners out there have HID for their headlights and Bottom Fog lights. I tried to install HID for my fog lights but they don't turn on. Any suggestions? Do i have to do some wiring modifications to get it to work?

Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks

Lightning? It can zap your car's electrical system.

In storms, keep the car away from tall trees and light poles.

I'd prefer a kit that's wired directly from the battery with a relay. It offers better power delivery to the ballasts on start-up and less chance of electrical problems. The stock fog light wiring wasn't meant to handle the power surge when you turn on the HID's. It probably wouldn't do anything catastrophic but fried wiring can lead to bad things and I wouldn't want to take any chances with my car, no matter how slim.

I didn't find it difficult to install a kit using a relay. Hook it to the battery and hook up a few plugs, the only part that took any time was finding a spot to mount the ballasts.

Agreed, I would ONLY run an HID kit with relays. Since I was a former MECP Master Installer, I've sen the gamut of what can happen to a car's electrical system when something goes south. Melted wires, fires, not good.

Relays and fuses are your friends.

I can HIGHLY recommend the XENONDEPOT kits. They are all pre-wired with relays and fuses, easy install and work great.

if you get a kit without relays they are very easy to make yourself, i highly suggest adding them to any hid kit

I have a kit from mobile-hid on my fogs, the kind with relays and connects straight to the battery, best bet for the electrical system.

Welcome to CL!

Maybe we can turn this thread back towards actually answering your question! Have you tried reversing the plug like was said above? If that didn't work, maybe you can give us some more info. on your kit and install. Where did you get the kit? What have you tried to do to get it working? Some of that sort of thing.

I'd still recommend looking into a wiring harness, I'm sure the info. is out there on how to make your own or you can get one from mobilehid.com for $20 that should work with your ballasts. I'm running a mobilehid kit in my fogs and it's been great, the wiring harness was real simple and makes me feel better; like SocalSC4 said, melted wires and fires are not good.
