No--I was maybe 1/2" below the fill line. One post said I should fill the radiator with the car running?! Dumb question, but is that safe?

Ummm guys what people are talking about is as follows:
1. When the engine is COLD open up the radiator cap.
2. Start the car. Manually set the HVAC to the highest temp setting 85
3. You will see then coolant start to flow
4. Top off accordingly then cap the radiator
I was imagining the face burning-off thing, and was thinking maybe I can live with the gurgling noise... Thanks BossGS4--that helps. Will do tomorrow, but I'm still thinking it's air in the A/C system.
