Default Belt replacement

I went to my mechanic few months ago for change oil/check up. We realized that some screeching sound from engine. He said that just the belt is getting old or cold but no to worry about it. He said I can wait few months, if it bothers me than change it. He said its about $80 including parts. Its bothering me now, beacuse I drive thru MCDonalds and have the screeching sound. I feel like I drive a very old vehicle. Does anyone know which belt? I just want to get it from dealer instead of using aftermarket belts and the mechanic is 10 miles away from me.

It's the main drive belt or the serpentine belt. I just changed mine over the weekend and it really is a 2min job.

Read this post on post 4,5, & 6 has a picture. Looks like a 2 minutes job. After installation, how many weight do I need to put on the tension?

How much is the belt btw? Thanks!

Seriously, no weight or strenghth is required to turn the tensioner pulley bolt.. Heck it can be done with your pinky since the tensioner pulley is spring loaded.. The pulley bolt will not loosen at all as you turn.. Just try it!!

I read other forums and got the gatorback at a...zone. Cost me $43 with tax + 2 candies for my 2 kids... $48... Didnt get a chance to put on yet. Have to wait till next week for sunny day. Let the cold kill all the mosquitos...

Damn regular tires cost around $80 and this belt or OEM belt cost $40s? Only about 1/50 of the size of a tire. Are they make of gold? If I put some holes on this and put on my waist will last forever?

Just changed the belt at 9:30 PM using a flash light. Very quiet now. Was thinking of spraying WD-40 to those engine wheels. Better ask my mechanic.

Don't spray wd-40 on the pulleys. It will cause the belt to lose traction and might start squealing. Replacing the belt is a very simple DIY job.

I thought so too and maybe it will damage the belt by eating it.
