Default New Lex Owner, Hello

Just wanted to introduce myself... purchased an 04 GS300 last week. Black, black leather int., power everything, Nav/Lev, Got a great deal, dealer knocked off nearly 2 grand because there are some obvious scratches and scuffs on the front bumper, and because their shop was supposed to detail the vehicle but didnt. car has 49,xxx miles, and a trip to the local lex dealership (I bought from a used Toyota dealership in north jersey) revealed that the car had all scheduled service done with the exception of the 45k, the most expensive obviously, but the car is in top class shape. I also fall in under the manufacturer's warranty, until 50k or Nov 1st. They said they would offer the extended warranty to me because I took it straight to them as soon as I bought it, I can even go a little over 50k and they are still willing to give me their quoted price.

My plans with this vehicle are to have lex detail the car, for real this time...lol, have the upper part of the bumper buffed out, and most likely replace the bottom plastic part of the fender, what aftermarket options are there? I'm most likely going to replace the grill, and toss some 17-18's on it. I was thinking black with chrome lips. Maybe some slight tinting of the windows. I've already updated my Nav to 7.1. The other thing I wanted to do was to order one of the Vaistech Ipod adapters, the one with video support. Anyone here using one of these, and how is it working for you? I wanted to have it installing in the lowermost center console, is this feasible? Is there a way to control/input into the nav system while driving? and will the same restriction be on the ipod if I'm moving, that would kindof defeat the purpose of integration.

Thanks in advance,
Colin

Welcome... I'm still fairly new, but I think my welcomes are worth SOMETHING!

advice on rims, search through all the rim threads before you decide to do 17's or 18's. Kinda small for the GS. Looks like 19's are a preferred size and 20's being a toss up. and as said above, tinted windows are a must on black!

Welcome.

I would pass on the Lexus detail. They will make it look good till you really take a look at it. Then all the swirls and buffing marks from their hack job will show up. Especially on a black car.

I suggest talking to Chris@GlimmerGlass (Forum Sponsor) about a real detail or searching Autopia.com for other detailer's in your area.

Also don't forget (edit: in the future) to search the forum for an answer before you post a question.

lol, Thanks all!

**DISCLAIMER**I, cpkirkley, hereby promise to use the search function and all tools pertaining to the non-noobish collection of information on CL Forums & affiliated sites.

wowitztai - I'm in central jersey, Plainsboro to be exact. Are you from around here?

About the clear side markers, I'd actually rather get some that were darker instead of clear, I'd like to take the ball and run with the black color. I wanted to stay away from the bigger rim sizes, 19 would be the largest I would go.

Pics will come tomorrow, I got home from work too late to get some decent afternoon/twilight shots in. Ill take a few out, a few in, and Ill get few of the scuff marks in front. Really can't notice them at casual glance, but I know they're there and that's enough, lol.
