Default Shaving rear quarter lips.

So of course everyone states that shaving is far better than rolling the rear fenders. My only concern in doing so is grinding the spot welds off and separating the outside metal from the inner quarter panel at that section. Do you guys weld the two pieces together and respray the quarter panel or is there some other method to reattach the two edges?

Cars in the shop right now, front fenders are flattened but the rears are coming tommorow...

i looked into this too. word on the street is that it doesnt separate if you use something like a belt sander which works it down. if you cut with an angle grinder or dremel it can be a bit rougher and cause a bit of separation. most people seem to just run some seam sealer or primer along the edge and then touch it up. i dont want to grind off the welds for legality so im not sure waht im going to do!

I might try to leave a few MM of overhang so that I can have a more rigid structure. I'm just concerned with welding those edges and heat peeling the paint off.

Yeah, I could have my body shop do that approach, I am just wary of removing all of those welds without doing something to reinforce the structure.

Actually, in thinking about it... I may cut the edges down like you (carbongs) and then have my shop do some minor hammering on the lips up to "lock" the two pieces together, and then put some seam sealer on the top to prevent water from sitting up top.

I agree, carbon your car is sweet!

But... did you use a torque wrench to loosen those lug nuts??

is it common for Lexi to have tolerances off by that much ?

I have 18 X 9.5" +35 offsets running Dunlop Sportmaxx 285/35s in the rear and my passenger side rubs while the driver's side doesn't at all.

Guess I am buying a bunch of cutoff wheels so i can get this car lowered.
