Default Replacing front strut, KYB or OEM ???

Recently, i have realized one of front strut has oil leak. So, I guess it is time to replace them now even my car has only 70k miles on it. i want replace it with KYB strut. but somebody say it will be stiff compare to OEM strut. sb said it is just fine,it doesn't make too much different with oem strut. does anybody use KYB strut can give me some suggestion for it. Is there differnet type of KYB strut make for 2 nd GS. My friend told me there is regular one and sport one??? Thanks!!!.

KYB does make different kinds of struts and they are a great company. They make a OEM replacement strut and other adjustable dampening struts. The OEM replacement is good but do the left and right side, not just one side.

KYB-GR2's didn't feel any stiffer to me... but like Infamous said, replace both, not just one... and get your alignment done afterwards...

I bought a new set of OEM shocks and they say KYB on them. So it's safe to say KYB makes the OEM shocks. At least the newer ones because the older ones look different.

get kyb gr-2
probably the most compatible/comparable shocks to oem, if not oem itself (apparently)

I think the GR-2 is the only model they offer for our cars.

hey, I got quote from my machenic.

KYB $300 ( including parts , labor , tax )

OEM $360 ( including parts , labor , tax )

above price it is for two front strut only. for sure. I will go with KYB since it is more stiff and handling. is that good deal??? he told me the job it is going to take about two hours.

shouldnt take longer than 1.5 hrs if he knows what he's doing. sounds like labor could be renegotiated, but up to you.

by the way, kyb's are in no way stiff.
