Question about the In Dash 6CD changer
Hey everybody, I haven't been around in a very long time so forgive me if this was already covered in the past on the forum. I came by to get info on the Sports Design package on the GS and I noticed that the GS now has the In Dash 6 CD changer. I'm assuming that the is the same type of CD changer that is available in the IS where you feed in the CDs through the dash one by one. I was a little surprised to see this because I could have sworn that all the 2002 models I saw in the showroom still had the CD changer mounted in the glove compartment. Also, is it available with the Navigation system, or do you have to settle for the CD changer in the glove compartment if you get it? Thanks in advance.

On my 2002 GS430 w/ ML & Nav, the changer is in the glove box (resulting in hardly any storage space, of course).
Don't know about non-Nav models.

Oh I think I get it now. They refer to the IS version as "In-Dash Single Feed", where as the GS version is called "In Dash" which means it's in the glove compartment. I guess I didn't notice the distinction at first.

Thanks Johnny. I've been OK. I'm glad you remembered me.
Why does the IS300 have options that either cost extra (i.e. HIDs) or are not available (i.e. In Dash single feed CD changer) in the GS300?

IS vs GS300 Options
Sam,
I think (and I hope no one is offended) it's because Lexus knows with the IS they are catering to a younger crowd and they "know" about that stuff and want it, whereas in Lexus' eyes the GS has a different target and they still need to maintain a discernable difference between the 3 and 4/4.3.
