Default man down, what a sad day but no need for a 21 gunshot salute......

....cos we will survive...lol
pretty sad day for me today...literally
had my very first accident ever in my 10yrs of driving.
very sad....it was totally my fault too.
At a stop sign looking to turn into a right which curves into a highway (not your regular angle 90" stop sign).
While looking left trying to calculate how fast i should move when turning right to avoid impeding traffic or colliding with oncoming traffic, i make the foolish move of stepping on gas to start turning right while looking at the left for oncoming traffic (we all do it...lol)
Apparently, the GMC Sierra truck in front of me was thinking otherwise and he stayed put and within 1/100th of a sec of letting go of the brakES.....CRASHHHH...
her truck was perfectly fine(those trucks have strong behinds)
Same could not be said for my baby....
hood and side fender dented, headlight broken and Radiator busted(dont know if its broken and has to be replaced or just a crack that can be fixed. it was dark. But i drove home without overheating.)
Other than that, i think it just has to be pullled out and straightened and those parts fixed/replaced.
irony of the entire situation is i had my highway road test this morning and failled....lol. What a sad sad day. A simple 1 sec look to the right and all this would never have happened.
Money that i dont have for mods will have to be used for this now....lol. Should i start a fundraiser?.....lol

The car doesn't look too bad at all. You are okay. That's the only thing that matters! Good luck.

I've been there (literally). It's about $4,700 worth of damage (your's is probably more because I didn't have to replace my quarter panels).

In stop and go traffic on the LIE one morning, I changed lanes and 'tapped' a van who decided to stop as I decided to go... I bumped into him and his rear sat on my car. It's an extreme weak spot for our cars. The van didn't even realize I hit him and when traffic opened up again, he pulled off. But I was left with this:

New Hood
Front Bumper Cover
Headlights
Grill
Radiator Support Bar

Yup, your scenario has to be one of the most common "fender benders" there is - the driver of the car behind thinks the car ahead has already made the turn and steps on the gas without checking right to be sure it's clear and....BAM!
Well at least you've got the right attitude about it. It sucks big time but it isn't the end of the world.
So, which bank account do you want us to make donations to?

Good luck with the repairs.

The damage looks almost identical to what happened when my wife rear ended a murano. Repair estimate was roughly $4500, and with $1000 deductable, we got $3500 from the insurance. However, it was enough to cover the repair because I found a used headlight for around $500 instead of $1800 for a new one.

No worries bro....we all made the EXACT same mistake....well, at least I did.

Main thing is....you are OK.....no one else got hurt....and you learn from your mistake.

For me....now...I still peek left on the oncoming cars....but I focus my attention to the vehicle in front of me until its gone.....then I look left again.
