I think it only works when you're NOT moving. Is that what you were trying to do?

I ask a Mechicanic at the Lexus dealer and he said that 1 and 2 are together. He said when your in second at a complete stop its in first until you hit gas WOT and it then automatically shifts to 2 then you take charge after that.........does that make since to anyone!

So your saying that the Shifter is locked? and won't go to 1 no matter how hard u force it? cuz if ur saying it's like that then you should check up the manual, Im not sure exactly how to do it but you can pop something out and stick a screw driver down there or somthing and unlock it urself, If it is indeed Locked... someone else wanna clarify this if anyone knows what im talking about, because I remember reading in the manual that if ur shifter wont move then u can do something like that to move it

<<"at a complete stop its in first until you hit gas WOT and it then automatically shifts to 2 then you take charge after ">>

I believe he's got it reversed. It's in second until you hit WOT, at which time it shifts to first. See my earlier post for the reason.

What he says makes no sense at all.

No, at a stop, your car is in 1st gear.

When you punch it, launch, whatever you want to call it, the tranny shifts from1st to 2nd, rather quickly I might add, since the redline is reached so quickly.

The tranny does NOT start out in 2nd and shift to third.

Shoot, I'm sorry. I thought we were discussing what gear the tranny was in from a stop. I skimmed too quickly I guess.

FTR, when I lauch from a stop, the tranny is in 1st, then shifts to 2nd; so if I'm launching, like for the 1/4, I leave it in D anyway - under WOT, the tranny I think will shift at RL anyway.

I use Eshift for short sprints and , shall we say, spirited competitive driving.

Don't get snippy with me - I'm just trying to help.

If you're stopped and can't move the shifter into L, I'd say your car's got a problem.

A1exus:

Are we talking about the inability to physically move the shift lever to L, or the inability to gat an "L" electronic indication?

ok Alexus, the answer is NO, lol lets drop it now, if u can't manually force it into 1, then yes u do have a problem, something could have came loose, stopping it from being forced, try the Screwdriver thing like I posted earlier and if that doesn't help then take it the dealership and have that fixed,
