Default 1998 GS 400 Key Problem

hello everyone,

I have a 98 GS400. I have a somewhat similar problem with GSTYLIN about the key...My key broke about a year ago, and I got the spare programmed to turn on the engine. Unfortunately, I lost my car key.

Now i'm left with nothing...I'm wondering how y'all got around to this. I definitely don't want to pay 200-300+ dollars for a new key.

My sister ordered a blank key on Ebay and this place cut it, but did it horribly, and that project got left in the dark.

Now i'm wondering what to do...I don't have a key that could be the "template" for a new key.

would purchasing a 200-300+ dollar key from Lexus my only hope?

Thanks everyone

Default dealer only.

Car has to go to dealership. you need a new master key and I beleive an ECU.
The keys are coded to the ecu. If this is the first time then lexus covers the computer under warranty regardless of the mileage. it should be $55.00 per key to get programmed and about $100 to remove the old ecu and install. I nyour case I would recommend a spare key, as long as you have a key then more can be programmed, its only when you lose all your keys that you get stuck in this situation.

Exact same thing happened to me, but be ready to spend around $600.00- $700.00 depending on the dealer and taking to consideration YOU OR THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF UR CAR HAS NEVER LOST THE MASTER KEY, other wise.... be ready to spend $2000.00 on your computer depending on your dealer. The dealer will run a vin check to make sure u have never lost the key, depending on the outcome the dealer will replace your computer for free if it's ur first time losing the keys (fingers crossed) The dealer made me buy 2 keys + the programming.

keys $260.00 each one
programming $160.00

Good luck man!!

Rob
