Default Looking into a 98 GS400

Hi everyone. Noob here , I'm looking into getting my wife a 98 GS400 so I figured I'd sign up and look around a bit. What do you all think of this deal. The guy has dropped the price a few times and its currently going for $9499. Is there anything in particular we should look out for when we go look at it. I'm in Iraq so my wife will be looking at it so any tips would be helpful. I appreciate the help.

We're not looking to do anything other than rims, suspension and exhaust probably. So I'm not too worried about the mileage.

For a 98 GS400, I think 9500 is wayyyyy too expensive. What is the mileage on the car?

If the mileage is ridiculously low then it could possibly be worth it...I'm not sure but I doubt the 98 GS400 is worth 9500, especially in TODAY'S market. Does it come with navi? any upgrades?

This link is what we use at the bank to find collateral pricing..
http://www.nadaguides.com/usedcars.a...a=-1&mi=150000

So i'd have to say it could be right on the money.

Thanks for that link. I'm digging the rims on your GS augdogg. I'd like to go with a similar look. You mind telling me the specs? Thanks again.

hey bro dont do like i did and Overlook this car does not have heated seats... i was mistaken and thought all of them did some also did not come with sunroofs very rare
what is the milege?
the interior honestly the carpet specifically looks really dirty especially near the dead foot... it can be cleaned but it looks as if its 150k
but things to check out would be carfax and if all the vin numbers are there
it could be just the pictures but the passenger side fender looks a lil off color wise...
check how its been maintained and if the major service has been completed
there is some common problems like ball joints but they can be replaced easily
but id like to know the miles first before i could say if the car is worth it if its 140k-150 its too much id say 8500

Thks! I like dish style wheels. Staggared 19x9(high disk) because of BBK and 19x10(low disk).

The car has around 110k. Which my wife isnt too fond of. We just sold her 3 Series cus it was a coupe since we just had our second kid. So now I'm looking around for a nice sedan we can pimp out. I've always liked the GS so we might just keep looking around. I want to get something nice to promote my shop also. Luxury wise.

I think that car belongs to someone on here. I remember it was pretty clean. And 110k is nothing on a Lexus. It's past due on a BMW though.

Hmnn no HID's either?
This to look out for would be a good Starter motor
Check that the Timing Belt/WP has been done
and it doesn't have the 65mph Shimmy that 70% of the GS' have

Damn, I sense some hostility up in here.

I'm shopping around to see what I can find. It's hard finding something local out here.

Naw its not hostility its just saying that 9500 is way to much for a 98 gs. if the car is in good condition then get it but dont go by some window shoppers opinion on what its worth.

Gotcha. What I was mostly trying to get out of you veteran Lexus folks is if they are prone to general issues. A big one with my Z was the rear tires feathering and also the trannys going bad.
