It will work. I tried that spray before on my old car. Make sure you make very thin light coats. And you may need to wetsand and polish to make it shiny.
I got it from eBay. I think you can get similar results using Testors Candy Apple Red Transparent hobby paint. I don't know how you would open up the lights to spray inside. Should be fine to spray it on the outside.
in my own experience using these types of paint (BUT not this particular product) they tend to fade rather quickly and turn pinkish EVEN with a clearcoat on them!
Clean the tail light. Let it dry. Tape off the area you want to be red. Spray a light coat of red over what you want to be red. Let it dry. 2 more coats. Spray clearcoat. Wetsand clearcoat with 2,000 grit, then buff/polish. If you go slow and take your time it'll look great. My buddy made a set of red-clear-red taillights out of all clear altezza's. Looked excellent.
