Dont ask me why but, some of the keys have thread lock on the screw. I have had a hard time opening brand new keys before. When I get them open they have a faint red residue on the threads. Even if the screw isnt stripped it just will not turn. What I usually do is take the screwdriver you are using and lock it in a vice so the tip is pointing up. Then I put the key down onto the stationary screwdriver, hold the key down with my palm and turn it while holding pressure.. Sometimes I have to use so much pressure I cant turn my arm so I walk around the vice to turn the key. Just make sure your pressure is at the center of the key where the blade meets the case or you could crack it. I have used this method on many, many key screws even stripped screws and it has worked everytime.

Hey, mildly related to the topic; My screw is missing from my key. I have tried several different eyeglass screws but none will go in. Can anyone tell me what size it is to minimize time and energy at the hardware store when I go to get the replacement? Thanks.

Just got it fixed today. For anyone who needs to know, it was a M2 Metric Screw at the local hardware store. The ones they had were a little longer than the key wanted but it worked out just fine.
