now that i think of it....there's no way an 05 will be valued anywhere near even your dealer guess of 10-12k for repairs....

Default Oh my Gosh!!

It was just last night that you were helping me along with info and then this happens to your very own car. I am sad for you and the car. I wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully there is a little silver lining somewhere. Good luck man, I wish it wouldn't have happened to you.

Sorry to hear about the fire. Hopefully with your skills and connections you will get this car back up and running and perfect again in no time. I personally think insurance would total it out, but I wouldn't know. Good luck to you.

do you still have the stock engine... you can just put it back in and have them total it. I would claim and buy it back from them. You should call your insurance agency and ask them about your situation and they should give you a feedback. Its not their money they are paying you with so I think they should be able to give you a straight up answer.

Sorry to hear about this, good thing you are not injured at all.

In terms of insurance, give a call to your insurance agent about the best plan. Play dumb, and don't get too detailed as in why this has happened, or why you think this may have happened- let them do the figuring. Give really general answers. You want to avoid a scenario where you would be blamed. I am speaking from past experience from a comp. coverage claim.

This is probably one of the best advice thus far. Never act or mention that you know anything about the car. Since it seems like the motor wasn't damaged, I wouldnt bother with trying to get compensated for aftermarket parts. It looks mainly like wiring and body work.

That's why I say never mention aftermarket parts in the beginning because you're putting thoughts to the adjuster's mind that it could be the potential culprit.
