Default Sad, sad day today.

Hey guys, I guess luck finally caught up with me. After having this car for 2 years with no problems.. my luck runs out. I didn't notice this until I got home. I didn't see the passenger side until I began dusting my car.

How will I go about reporting this to the insurance company? I do not know where I got hit or by who. And can anybody recommend a good bodyshop near the Walnut area that will do a good job on the repair?

Thanks.

BTW. Can anyone estimate the cost in damages?

EDIT:

After countless hours of buffing, polishing, waxing, etc, this is the best I think it will ever be. Big difference though, can't say I'm not satisfied.

It will, unfortunately.

You've tampered (if you do decide to buff it out) with the claimable damage.

Sorry to see that, and I hope you can get it fixed quickly!

Take it by your insurance agent's before you do anything with it. I'd want them to have pictures of it as it is right now. Then you can clay and buff it which will help alot in the time until it gets fixed.

If I do send it in the shop, how long will it take? And if it takes a long time, am I able to request a rental car?

Not sure how long it would take. As far as the rental car, since this is a hit and run, it will depend on whether you purchased the car rental on your policy.

I had to have some minor body work done this year after a guy hit me.
You definitely want to call the insurance company and get it to the body shop asap. Thy can look at the car to order all the parts they need, when the parts are in THEN take your car in for the work. If you have rental car coverage, then you get a rental, no coverage = no rental. Unless you can find the guy that did it, then his insurance would likely cover your rental.
Good luck to ya.

Will your rate go up if you claim this, in your policy? Do you have a deductable amt? If any of these questions come into play it may be worth it to find your own way to fix it?

As of right now, I don't have full coverage; I have half coverage. My deductible is at $500.
