OK I dont know if any of you felt like this about the GS, but when you step on the gas almost all the way down, But not completely, so that it'll switch from first to second gear at about 5000 rpm's, does it pick up faster then if you were to just step on the gas completely? because to me it feels as if it stays in the RPM range where all the torque is, I was just curious because if I was to use the shift gate and switch from first gear to second gear at about 5000 Rpms does it actually make the car pick up faster? To be honest I dont know if it does, or if it's because the car shifts faster since it doesn't have to wait to get all the way to 6000Rpms

the thing is, that although it feels like you may want to shift at about 5Gs, you want to take it all the way to 6 or 6.5 so that when it goes to second, its back in the meaty part of the pwer range. thats why gearing is so important to acceleration. you dont want to loose momentum when you shift, so you have to match the shift points to maximize. hope that helps.

ya hes right. lets say your peak TQ and HP is 5000RPM. lets say when you shift u drop 2000RPM. so you should shift at 6000-6250RPM because then you are always in the middle of your powerband.
