Jooleee,
When I had my 98 GS4, the NAV froze up on me 2 times in the 3 years I had that car. Once nothing worked at all including the A/C, I was hitting buttons like crazy, and another time some buttons were shaded out on me, so I couldn't get to them. I restarted the car and everything worked well. Now on the DVD based NAV I have on my GS430, something very weird happened. I got my car washed, hopped into my car and start driving. So I go to turn on the radio, nada. Nothing worked on the radio, CD and tape and some buttons in the screen display were not there. So when I got home I restarted the car in my driveway and to my relief, everything worked and appeared on the display. So obviously once in a blue moon the NAV may freeze up, but a restart of your car fixes the problem. I still love the NAV though.

when mine freezes up, it goes back to normal w/in 5-10 minutes... so i've never had to restart my car... but if it ever takes a long long time, i'll be sure to try that. thanks!

Many times if the system voltage drops, the Nav will freeze up. This usually happens at idle when other power items are on and a small reserve capacity battery is used. I get "cannot read card" sometimes. Each and every time, it fixed itself.

I've been searching for quite sometime on a thread to re-wire our stock GPS antennae (in the window) to a remote one. I have the platinum tint and loose my signal quite often.

Maybe you guys just need to run the Heat for a while to thaw it out.
I bet when it freezes its always in winter b/c it gets too cold too.
Would YOU freeze if you got really cold??
Get my point?
