I was driving as usual today. I hit the brake pad preparing for a stop, but I saw the emergency brake light went on. then it went on a few times when i tried to brake...not happening anymore though. might come back.
anyone knows what's up with this?
thanks.

as a matter of fact, i actually just got my brake fluid changed. the guy from Sewell Lexus parts recommended me two bottles of those Toyota brake fluid for the 90k miles service, but my mechanic said one was enough, so I still have one bottle left. could that be the problem?

that probably means your pads are low, thus dipping the brake fluid below the acceptable level in the master cylinder, triggering the 'brake' light that normally comes on when engaging the emergency brake.
you may have a leak for break fluid, that would also cause the fluid to be low. Or, when they changed the fluid they did not top off after bleeding, also causing the issue.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead... but I didn't want to create a new topic for this.
Anyways... my e-brake light has just come on since a couple of days and it won't go out. I checked the brake fluid level, which is good. I got all new pads and rotors also.
Is the e-brake switch somewhere in the driver's side footwell? Can it be stuck?

Ok I'll check the e-brake assembly under the dash.
This may not be relevant, but the warning light first came up when I unplugged the 3rd brake light. Would this make the e-brake light come on? Or is this a coincidence? I have put it back since but with LED bulbs (5 x w5w LED bulbs).
Braking is fine. The BMC looks fine too, no weird noises. Fluid level is ok. Are there any sensors at the wheels to be checked?
