I got a hold of a rear view mirror that i was told had the compass feature. After looking at it closely i only see the "F" and the "C" for the outside temp readings. It also does not look like there is enough room to fit both the compass and temp readings at the same time if the temp went over the 100 degree mark. Did i get one for a car with Nav? I am just guessing here but do the cars with nav use the outside temp reading on the mirror now because the dash is configured differently and the nav has the compass built in? The mirror i got is from a 2003 GS300. TIA guys!

i have an 01 gs3 non-nav and my mirror only does the compass....exterior temp is displayed on the climate unit i don't think any GS has a temp/compass mirror...

That's what i was thinking. I did not even know that some had the temp on the mirror. I was just wondering if i was correct in saying that nav cars have the temp in the mirror. So that when i'm looking for another one,i have to specify "non-nav" car. Appreciate the info......
BTW,anyone have a grey compass mirror for sale???

i have a ml nav car and we dont have a compass OR temp readin in our mirrors. ours is on our nav screen. so u dont have to specify as we dont have ANYTHING in our mirror. ours is just a plain mirror. btw was discussion bout this awhile ago. search through some old posts for it

Bringing from the dead. I bought this mirror just wanted to try out to see what happen. Just got installed and wanted to know what are the "C" and "F" for? I tried press and hold the dimming button and it give me a number selection from 1-15. Anyone know what they're for?

The "C" and "F" are for Celcius and Farenheit. Not used in the Lexus application apparently. The mirror is probably made for other vehicles by the mirror manufacturer and they may use this feature. The numbers displayed are the "zone" you are in. You need to find the zone you reside in and have that displayed,wait a minute,then i believe "CAL" for calibrate will be displayed. Drive in an open parking lot in large circles until the compass is displayed. Should be between 2-3 circles. Hope that helps.

Most of TX is zone 6. Ignore the instructions from the VW manual. Pic is only to show zones,they are standard across the board. I found this when i needed the same info for mine and found it via Google.

Just taking a shot in the dark, but i was wondering if anybody has put in a rear view mirror (from another Lexus) with a compass in their 99 GS??
