Default Aristo Techtom modified ECU

Hey guys,

For quite some time I've been considering building a 98+ GS with the Supra's 2JZ GTE motor. As some of you probably know, the GS 400s counterpart in Japan is the Aristo using the 2JZ GTE twin turbo and Getrag 6 speed. My question is this..

Stand alone ECUs are a ton of work on any car, but even more so on the newer Lexus'. Many of the gauges and peripherials are controlled by the ECU, so it will be a very complicated piggyback system at best. My question is has anyone tried a Techtom modified Aristo ECU? If not, can you think of any problems one may have in a US spec car? (Things like different fuel maps are not a problem as the ECU would be reprogramed anyway) This will not be a plug and play system-- I'm sure there are substantial wiring harness differences-- but is there anything that may prohibit this set up? Thanks.

I have an engineer friend who is currently putting an aristo 147 (2JZ-GTE front clip from a J-spec 147) into a 97 GS3. He is working on the wiring set up right now. He will be using an Autronic computer. If everything goes well, we do have possible plans of doing a GS4. I know he has come up with some problems, but I don't really know what they are off the bat. If you have specific questions, maybe I can ask him.

Ricky,

Thanks for the info. I had an Autronics ECU (SMC) on my Supra, but after being forced to use a three tooth timing wheel, I was unable to control AC. (long story) The 97 GS's will be much easier to work with, mainly because of the gauges. Let me know how the project goes.

probably easier because of the lack-of-VVTi?

the Aristo V300 uses a 4-speed auto not 6-Getrag.

let us know how things go. Thanks.

Techtom doesn't exist in the US anymore. The remaining G-Force became Hondata.

I am running the ECU that came with the Aristo front clip and a proto-type piggyback computer. I wanted to use the HKS F-Con Pro but HKS USA would not provide support for me. I have tried to find US "hackers" to manipulate the Aristo computer but came out empty.

It's easier because the ECU in the pre 98s is a traditional, engine/AC control computer. The 98+ runs almost everything through the ECU.

I've heard from several that it's the 6 speed Getrag, but I will defer to you. Thanks

Techtom is still alive and well. GForce uses Techtom boards. Almost all Japanese ECUs that are changed are Techtom modified.

What year is your Aristo ECU?

Edit: Just saw that you said Techtom in the US, not Japan.. my mistake

99 ECU... when G-Force was alive at UPRD... Tadashi couldn't hack it.
