Default Help! Air suspension problem!

Hello... I havent yet been able to "show off" my new set up that I just installed to you guys yet, and I have issues In the rear, when I "dump" it the strut shoots through the top? You know how the mount up front is a "plate" that bolts to the fender and the strut bolts to that? Well, what is the rear strut suppose to bolt to? All that there is the rubber bushings. So when I dumped it, the strut shot through with the bushing still connected to it....

Please tell me what I did with as little criticism as possible! LoL

(I left my stock set up at the shop, so I'm yet to compare it to what I put together to see whats missing, but I thought maybe someone here could enlighten me )

thanks in advance.

did you reinstall the stock top hats? it sounds as if you may have forgotten it...

outside of that you may want to target this thread to chrispy or one of those guys that are experts on air...

LoL of course! I had bought a separate set of top hats as to have the stock setup separate and complete.

Whats happening is that the two bushings that "sandwich" together are separating. I just dont see how those little rubbers are suppose to hold all that weight... ?

is there maybe supposed to be some kind of washer or eccentric on top of the bushing so that it isn't allowed to come out? or like a cotter pin type of deal? it would seem to me from my remembering of the rear suspension that as the car goes lower, the strut obviously compresses, but there needs to be something on top to hold it down and in place, which is what I thought the tophats were for haha

yea, I was thinking the same thing about the washer... There one on top (but just to go between the rubber bushing and bolt) But right before I came on here, I started thinking, their may be one on the inside to stop it... I think I know EXACTLY what I did wrong, and I dont want to say! LoL, cause its pretty bad!!!!!!! to me you know the part you shave off the front to help make it go lower? well IN the top hat its there too, but like 2 of them back to back.... I LEFT THEM OUT! BUT in my defense, it was recommended to me by another member (cause thats what he did) but I think I may have mis understood him Leaving them out, helped me tuck my 22's like 4 inches! LoL, but that was because the strut shot through the trunk ha ha....

( I KNEW talking it out would help! Thanks for the ear I'm SURE I've figured it out...) but damit, I think I may have tossed that part out! URGH!!! or misplaced it at best.

I think that's a bumpstop that is circled. Could be wrong. Is it rubbery in texture?

naw. these are the rubber parts. The part circled in the first pic is made of the same black metal as the top hat:

That brass colored thing is completely necessary. Put it back in. I got lower by cutting it in half. Remove the rubber piece connected to it, but leave the other two rubber bushings at the top.

So cut the brass deal in half (forgot it was brass) I leave the bottom piece on right? Also, in the second pic, I remove the piece circled on the bottom right? Would that also mean I can leave out the shaft?

Remove the rubber bump stop from the brass piece and put it back. You can cut the brass thing in half if you want. Leave everything else alone.
