I heard the torque masters are great at first, but then I've heard of a few people having problems with them and having cel lights come on. I have a personal friend who is a mechanic at a lexus dealership and even he told me to stay away from them. Has anyone had any problems with them?

I've had mine in for 3 years and nearly 100,000 miles now, and I have no issues. I bought a new set to put in during my second timing belt at 180,000 miles, but they really don't need to be changed.
I've never had a misfire, a check engine light, or a fouled spark plug. The engine is sound, does not burn oil, and I recommend them wholeheartedly.
Not everyone has problems with Torquemasters. I certainly haven't, and will install them again when I need them.
They work for me!

I was very close to getting the torque masters because of the increased power (supposed), but after reading multiple threads here on CL about problems, I decided to play it safe and went with the NGK Iridium.

You can't go wrong with the Iridiums. I had them in my car for the first 90,000 miles, and when I installed the new Iridiums, I could not tell the difference between old and new. Some folks say we don't need plugs until 120,000 miles, and I am inclined to believe it.
That's when I went with the Torquemasters. THEY made a difference that slowly became apparent after about 1000 miles, and has gotten better as time goes by. The smooth idle is uncanny even now, whether in gear or in park, air conditioning ON or OFF. When the AC is on, the speed goes up and is smooth, and with AC off, the engine turns slower, but is still smooth.
Put your Iridiums in and enjoy.
