newbie here..
Hello all,
I am planning on getting a 1999 GS300 this weekend, I found one on ebay it's in pretty decent shape (as far as I can tell from the pictures) with a little over 100k on it, the guy will give it up for no less than 7k. What do you guys think, should I go for it he's had the o2 sensor changed recently and a tune up but the timing belt has never been replaced. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Looks like a good buy.. I would check all the service records to see what else he has replaces. As far the T/Belt, you can do ém around 130k miles. Check with other sources to see if you could find any others..BTW Welcome to CL

I'm no mechanic nor have I ever owned a Lexus, I asked him the generic questions about the engine/tranny he said theyre in working condition, but what do I know. The only thing he said is wrong with the car is that the power mirror on passengers side isn't working, and recommended that I change the belt in the near future.

I paid 4,500 GBP (6,500 USD) for a 2001 GS430 with 74,000 and FLSH inc. early belt change and ball joints. Had it for two weeks and it's near immaculate.
Very much a buyer's market, shop around and negotiate hard, if you've got cash and are prepared to walk away you should be pushing it.

Looks like avg trade-in is around $6-700 more so looks to be a fair deal. You can ask him if he'd be willing to reduce the price to make up for the cost to fix the mirror and replace the belt though. You should consider going for it IMO!
