The proper way to clearance the strut tower for lowered applications.
So as soon as winter disappears I'm going to slap on my 19x10-10.5 SSR SP1's with soon to be purchased HKS Hipermax LS+. Of course we all know of the common problem of the Front Upper Control Arm hitting the shock tower. I personally don't want to deal with the horrible noise and aesthetics of metal on metal abrasion. So I'm trying to see if what are the cleaner ways that people are modifying their strut towers to clear it.
I would prefer not to sawzall my strut tower, so please share your insight.

I'm actually planning on running a stance similar to the old shaneC setup. I don't plan on going ridiculously low, but I don't want to have to deal with the bottoming out any time.
My wheels are 19x10 +37 and 19x10.5 +30

If you do it, do the box method. I have done the just cutting a hole and it's a mess. The work done was excellent but just driving around with an exposed hole makes the engine bay incredibly dirty and grimy.

I would be interested in seeing pictures or a drawing also. I once bottomed out with a loud clang and couldn't figure out what the noise was but now that I have read this thread it seems like it could be the control arm hitting the shock tower. Pictures would help confirm.
