Default Tire fitment: quick question

Tirerack called me saying that the tires I selected will not fit my car and the load capacity is not there.

I have a 19x8 and ordering 225/35/19 tires for it.
I also have 19x8.5 and ordering 245/35/19 tires for it.

I don't understand what is wrong?

He recommends 245/40/19 in the front and don't have a tire suggestion for the rear because it's not 19x8 or 19x9...no suggestion because it's 19x8.5

wassup with that?

So I check out this online calculator and got http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

245/35/19 in the front (I think it's okay for a 19x8 wheel)
285/30/19 in the rear ( I think it's too wide for 19x8.5)

What do you guys think. I need some expert here.

i believe I have 234 or 245(cant remember) on 8.5" and 275 on a 10"..order what you want. people stretch tires on here so theres no size that you have to get.personal preference

I'd like to get to close to stock as possible. Don't want to trigger the VSC.

Do you have aggressive offsets? Is that why you need 225s? Why did you get 8.0 and 8.5? My thoughts are if you are going to go staggered, go staggered (8-9 fronts and 9-10.5 rears, with at least 1 between the two). If you are going with .5 between them, I would have just gotten the same size all-around.

With that said, your sizes should be OK. 235/35 and 245/35 would be even better. Obviously, this would give you more similar diameters. Tirerack will give you a typical/safe recommendation. If you are doing anything a bit different, I don't think they'd want the liability of telling you that things might work.

tire rack is very conservative in their recommendations and fitments for obvious liability reasons. i ran 235's on 9.5" with no problems. also ran 225 on a 9" wheel with no problems. of course i did that for clearance reasons, you probably don't need to go that narrow. id go with 245 40 up front and 265 35 in the rear.

I guess I will go with 235 and 245.
19x8 et30 with 235/35
19x8.5 et33 with 245/35

I will be lowering the car about 2 inches front and back. Got the stuff ready but will be riding high maybe until summer. I will eventually increase the rear on the next purchase.
