Default HELP! my gas pedal goes stiff. does anyone know how to install a throttle cable cam?

it's basically the wheel (throttle cable cam?) and what holds it in place that the throttle cable connects to and is connected to the throttle body. i went to lexus for the part # but lost it . wondering what part this is and if anyone would have it/knows where i can get one at discount

EDIT: i have found out there is nothing wrong with the throttle cable. the problem is the throttle cable cam does not turn smoothly, which is probably due to improper installation. so now my question is, does anyone know how to install the the throttle cable cam?!

heres a pic of it (taken off of redjeeper's spark plug DIY post)

what had happened was, while changing the spark plugs, my brilliant friend took off my entire throttle cable cam instead of simply unhooking the cable. we tried putting everything back together but now every time I go above about 2300 rpm, the gas pedal gets stiff. when i press down on the stiff pedal the rpm just jumps. i've tried loosening the throttle cable and tightening it as well. still does not fix this problem. anyone know a solution? ANY input on this situation would be much appreciated

Looks like all you need to do is readjust the throttle cable.

Look to the left side of the pic, the threaded section needs to be secured to the bracket (cable stop) with the two nuts. The cable , IIRC, should have about 3mm of slack.

And don't let your friend touch your car anymore.

OH wait, that is not your pic, check you cable anyway...

Hello joeker,

I am assuming that your friend just removed the accelerator pedal position sensor and did not disassemble it.

hope that helps

If you want this headache to be over, bite the built and buy a new accelerator pedal position sensor.
These things are not meant to be disassembled.

Good luck

Have your friend pay for it since he's the one who made the mess

That part is called "throttle pedal assembly". It is a non-adjustable part and requires replacement if it ever gets loose or stuck.. The part can be purchased through CL vendor Carson Toyota.. The cable from the part must be routed throught the firewall. I had the dealer do the job and you should too if you want the job done right. I started a thread a few years ago on here regarding a problem with mine being loose & triggering trouble lights on the dash..
