Sewell Lexus or TM Engineering. Make sure you get the OEM parts and not the cheap ebay knockoffs.

The 2 main sponsers here are sewell and carson toyota(google to find their sites). Both are highly recommended and give great service. (there are CL coupon codes avail for both search this site)

However, FWIW, I've found buying from parts.com is slightly cheaper. They use the same catalog system as carson, but the discount is slightly more, especially since sales tax is collected at carson for CA customers. For non-CA customers price might be about the same as carson. For my orders from there, I received OEM parts with toyota labels exactly the same as the other sources.

Where ever you buy from, remember to pick up extra random service items (filters etc) to save on bundled shipping.

hmm, is this the first 01+ GS with broken LBJ's? and from what i saw in the other thread, lowered GS' with bigger wheels were the vast majority of LBJ failures..

Car was lowered, then bagged even. No play yet....but every time i read these post u guys scare the crap out of me. lol. Sorry to the OP, its an easy fixer but ur wheels' inner barrel will need a good sand and buff to get that gouge out.

Default LBJ Failure

With any joint that does not have the capability of greasing, you are going to have certain failure. It's nice not to have to maintain and you don't have the greasy mess, but the trade-off is you must maintain by regular replacement. Typically this kind of setup has a rubber type ball in the socket and so it is inevitable that it will wear to the point of separation. Whereas a joint that is metal to metal with a grease film will last much longer when maintained with new grease (think of bearings in engine use thin film of oil on surface, lifters, etc.). So all the joints, ball, tie will need to be scrutinized on this vehicle.

Sorry, about your car and glad you are alright. My car goes in the shop wednesday for the 60k service. So, I will see what they say. Will let everyone know the cost if you are in the Charlotte NC area. I got a quote earlier last year and it was not that bad but I will see.

For everyone new to this forum and asking questions, refer to the sticky under the Suspension and Brakes forum for all your FAQ on 2GS ball joints:

Sticky:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...gs-owners.html

DIY:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...-pictures.html

Summary:
The parts cost
ball joints 43340-39415-02 $110
outer tie rods 45460-59015-02 $104 (optional)
(sewell+CL911M coupon)

Market labor price:
You should expect to be charged 2hrs of labor
+ an alignment.

Lexus Dealer is of course waay more expensive.
An enterprising local mechanic of course may charge less then 2hours.
You can print out the DIY and give it to your mechanic.

Just the info I needed... I'm not putting mine off any longer... last thing I need is a balljoint to snap while I'm driving 90mph.
