Have you pulled the Diagnostic Codes from it yet? Look at this post and follow the directions starting on Post#16

Diagnostics Menu (Japanese)
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Turn the headlights switch to the OFF position.
3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
4. With your right hand, press and hold the CLIMATE and AUDIO buttons down.
5. With your left hand, turn the parking lights ON and then BACK off THREE times.
6. The navigation screen will display the image below.
It's not very useful because it's all in japanese but it basically is checking each unit in the system (Display, Navigation ECU, etc.) and returning "OK" or the error code if one exists.
The left button clears any codes that may be present. The right button re-runs the checks.

nope...wouldnt access that either, i would say my nav ecu is fried. i wish someone lived near me and would let me "borrow" their nav ecu for a moment. although the first time i tried i hit the air recirculation and audio and it pulled up a smog setting....ne1 know what this does btw?

Well I have had the disc for about a week now and I don't really have much to report. A few notes:
- way more POIs
- obviously more addresses and streets
- still have to press agree on start up
- USA map where you pick your region is segmented differently
Overall its a nice update from before...I was running the stock disk so I'm happy with the results.

Unfortunately the chance of us getting a new looking interface my be low. Map data is one thing.. I love the functionality of having it in the console, but when I look at how nice the SONY GPS maps look on my plug and play unit.. I want the best of both worlds. Don't we all./
