Default Squeaky Wheel? or what??

Greetings fellow Affectinados,

These are GREAT cars with few issues. My 1999 Gs 400 just started making these mild ,annoying squeaks when making turns. Seems to be coming from the steering cloumun ..any ideas on how to silence it?

Do you mean aficionados? Is it squeaking or chirping? Does it seem like it could be coming from your suspension? Have you checked for rubbing? Is the sound apparent when your windows are all closed?

are u sure its coming from the steering column and not behind the rotors? if its coming behind your rotors it could be your lower ball joint. in that case u have to change them right away or else its gonna break and your wheel is going to come flying off

Yes I meant affinicanados but Affectedinados may be more approipate plus no spell checker and i suck at spelling but anyway... I had the lower ball joints done.. the car has just turned 90k and when I make minor turns the steering collumn kind of "groans" at me. You know eeee, eeee when turning the wheel and definatnely coming from the steering collumn( i think) Just minor but annoying I'm about ready to soak the area down with WD 40 or silicon spray to see if I can shut it up. Any other thoughts/ advise?

My steering wheel makes the same groan. You can actually feel it when it happens. Slow speed slight turns like going into a parking space. It does not bother me enough to want to fix it though, at least not yet.

check your steering rack bushings and power steering fluid. Isn't it the P/S pump on the GS400 that goes bad and starts to leak down into the alternator causing it to fail?
