Default GS400 "cats"

I was looking on auto trader earlier and saw a GS400 for a really good price but it says it needs new "cats." The owner says he got a quote for $300 but that seems to cheap. What do you all think?

try 300 each for the cats and then add in labor. If the cats are blown the o2 sensors probably need replacing as well, 4 of them at 60ish a piece.

Don't start off in the hole as far as repairs are concerned. Jcat is right, this simple "needs cats" could turn into a long list of repairs. Find another Lexus.

You might as well just get high-flo cats on each side, and then get them welded on, then replace the 02 sensors with 02 sensor simulators. They connect ( soldering required ) directly onto the old wires.

New high-flo cats - $30-40 each
O2 sensors - $30-50 each

Saving a ton of money there.

OBD II Cats are very expensive. Should run at least 500+. The cats for the lexus are only dealer item so far what i have seen (California Certfied).

Well, I just bought two cats for my GS400 for around $165/ea with free shipping. They are direct bolt on OEM fitment and high quality complete with stainless shell. They also give a 5yr/50,000 mile warranty on their cats. The manufacturer is Eastern Catalytic (Manufacturing). They come with gaskets too but I advise ALWAYS use Lexus OEM gaskets...~$7/ea from Carson Toyota/Lexus; you'll need 4 of them. GL! and check out these cats!

BTW, My cats are being installed tomorrow...I will update everyone in a few days as to my impressions.
