Thumbs up TRD? 18x9 JDM OEM Wheels RAW~ pls help pick color

Hello All,

I just picked up a set of 18x9 JDM OEM Wheels in it's RAW form. New. Fresh from factory when they were in production.

-OEM Finish

If you notice the picture below, the face has a very good sheen. In contrast, look at the cut outs from the aluminum; it is completely raw.

I tried polishing it with Mothers Polishing Ball and their solution. After 15 minutes in, i decided to pull the plug. Too much effort. I will plan to have those areas in grey color and smoke the whole face for a complete gunmetal look.

What do you guys think?
My actual wheel -

i'd say its better to powdercoat them. go gunmetal on the face and black on the inserts, would look really good

Yes thank you for the response.

Ideally, I want to take advantage of it's RAW form and keep the face polished.

I'm trying to achieve Polish Face w/ Gunmetal inserts and finished with a black pearl clear.

plus.. i've heard that aftermarket powder coating may weakin the wheel..

oh, well polished face and black powdercoat the inserts would look good too. I dont see how powdercoating could weaken the wheel, it's just electrostatic paint...

Just came back from wheel techniques:
-Polish the fine scratches from the face
-Paint the windows gunmetal grey
-Powder coat clear (black pearl)
-Paint the inside of the barrel
-Mount and balance 4 tires.

$520 for all 4 wheels. What do you guys think? Says it takes 5 business days.

This is what I've read and heard from experts during my research so far-- Wheels that are cast and aren't made from a high-grade aluminum alloy has many impurities in the metal. During the heating process of powdercoating, the temp. is much higher than when just "baking" the paint onto wheels. This high heat tends to weaken the wheel because of the impurities. Forged wheels made from 6061-T6 alloy tend to come out fine. Other wheels, not so good.

I think they are ugly and you should just sell them to me (j/k) .

Those are going to look awsome once they are finished. I want to see the finished product mounted up

I'm leaning towards the stock polished look.
