This is not meant to make you look foolish ,but as a warning to others

Thats why you disconnect the battery when doing this kind of work

agreed... from now on.

so here's what I figured out yesterday from the shop I stopped at in CT:
there is power at the brake sensor, but none at the back of the car. They think that I fried a wire (well, i think its wires since i dont have parking lights either) somewhere in the middle of the car. How can I go about testing where the break is? Guess and check every foot or so (i guess this means ripping out the interior, right?)?

Thanks for the help in advance..
Chris

If you have compromised the wire, your best (and safest) way to remedy it is to completely replace said wire(s). Doesn't mean rewiring the entire car, just replacing that specific wire in the harness. Definitely not a job for the faint of heart, and certainly an expensive lesson. Those who follow will be wise to learn from yours. Good luck.

I think I will be attempting to work on this tomorrow. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the GS? wiring colors? pretty much I have to rip out the entire interior correct?

So can you shift now? A bad tail light wire should not affect your shifting ability.

Cool. That's good news, 1 of 2 issues fixed at least. I take it that it was a fuse issue causing the shifting problems?

Yeah he said that when he replaced the fuse that it shifted fine.. He said it was the one labeled "STOP" on the driver's side kickpanel.

You are definitely the man, I figured you'd chime in sooner or later... if you have them in PDF or something, I will give you an email address to send em to.
