Lightbulb Center Speaker in 2000 GS400

I have the Nakamichi sound system in my gs, and I want to know if there is any way to install the center speaker the lucky ML gs owners have above the clock. Even if I had to install after market speakers with an after market amp would it be a feasible idea? Or has anybody done this? Let me know what you all think/know about this idea!

Thank you,
-Joe

I don't have a center speaker...pic would be appreciated. It would be awesome if I can buy the parts and fit it on my non naka system because my aftermarket has a center speaker pre out.

even if I upgrade the speakers to better ones, I would still like to know if it's possible to add a center channel... If anybody has a diagram for the ml center speaker that would be perfect...

I thought about this too. I came to 2 conclusions. Swap in an ML dash or cut very carefully. Then find a shallow speaker to put in there so it doesn't rub on the air ducts. Wiring will be simple, down around the glove box to the amp.

Usually its easier to create a soundstage using just components on your left and right. The center channel is usually used for dialogue during movies, etc...

I say don't waste your money, there's almost no point to add it in unless you really need that center channel for movies and stuff. It would probably be counter productive to your sound stage and imaging. If you wanna improve your sound deaden your doors or install some nice components.

Cool, thanks for the pic...I didn't think of putting a speaker up there. Anways, if it doen't add to the sound quality..then I would forgo it. I was thinking that the voices would be removed from the left and right channel if I added the center channel; If it doesn't it's not worth it.

Of course, if anyone wants to do it...just wire from amp to center speaker. Just get a low power small amp for it- leave it in the glove box or next to the oem amp.

If you want improved imaging and soundstage for music, build or have someone build custom kickpanel pods for a nice set of components and you're most of the way there.

It's possible, but I don't think it's worth the time, money, and headache. I've got a center speaker for the ML system. Honestly, I can barely tell (sound wise) if it's even there.
