Need Help Identifying a Noise
Just officially joined, but I have been lurking a while and really like the site!
I own a 1999 GS 300 with about 137k miles - have had it for about two years now. This problem started over the summer.
I have had a noise coming from the drivers side front tire area that is seemingly too hard for the Toyota mechanics to figure out. I have taken it in three times and it still isn't fixed! This last time they swore that it was a bad hub and bearing and after a few miles the noise was back. They previously replaced the left lower lower control arm which was also a waste of time as it turns out.
I have searched the forum looking for some ideas on the problem and have not been able to make a conclusion. I made a video of the noise hoping that maybe someone might have some ideas.
I am taking it back to Toyota tomorrow morning and am trying to figure the best coarse of action. I think I want my money back on the last repair ($800) since it had no real effect on the problem they were suppose to fix. I took it to Toyota of Hollywood in Los Angeles btw.
Thanks - hope someone can help.
Not sure how to embed a youtube video so here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nc2lci1PUw

Well I know I'm the F'N'G around here, but hoping someone has some insight on this noise. I took it back to Toyota and the service manager claims the noise is because the new bearing was likely not installed correctly - something about needing a special pre-load or something along those lines. I have no idea if he is spouting BS or if this is a possibility. I want to make sure this is fixed right and doesn't come back in a few weeks or months. Any ideas?
