Glad that your issue is somewhat fixed. I think it has something to do with your car being up north. Chemicals from the salt and road grime build up under the hood and that combined with rubber from the belt getting hot or expanding can also make it squeak. At least the tensioner and belt on the gs3 are really easy to replace. $160 is a bit much. But you have a 430 so it is probably a little harder to do.

i wouldn't be surprised... since it is starting to get a bit warmer... if i experience it again next winter, ill try the aftermarket belt that everyone on the board seemed to switch to... i think it is the goodyear gator belt???

ill try to hold off until the 90k mile when i do timing belt/water pump/tensioner etc... then i'll replace the drive belt tensioner too...

cool cool sounds like you got it on the lock down. and if you do lube it with that ailicone spray try not to use too much. it will make the belt more brittle and you may end up with a cracked or broken belt and that is never good!

u know it is funny you mention that... on the first belt (before the dealership changed it for me) i used the spray lube... the noise would go away but then come back the next morning... i think the belt got to the point where it wouldn't take anymore lube cause the last time i sprayed it, it began making a consistent grinding noise...
