apparently every 2nd Gen GS300 sold on the domestic market here in Aus came with a rear spoiler factory with LED brake light, and there is no provision for one on the deck lid. and i didnt get the warning light when i removed my wing...but yes my car is now illegal.

i recently bought a high mount brake light, but now i have to paint it (since its black and my interior is tan/beige) and i also have to work out how to carefully remove the rear trims so i can run the cable through to the boot to splice it into the brake lights... i'll get around to it eventually..!!

In Australia im pretty sure the spoiler was an option, I've seen many GS's without them but they are all 98-01 so maybe on 02+ its standard.

Is it not possible to fit the oem ones? Seems like no one has fitted them after removing the spoiler or is it just that its very expensive? Anyone know the price to buy it and fit it?

no joel....he should check his other bulbs, he either has one out or a temperamental one!

The brake lights are dual filament bulbs. The constant lower-wattage filament could still be intact, whereas the high-wattage filament could be damaged. Good luck.

Very common issue that is easy to miss.

If the bulbs are brand new perhaps its just a loose connector. My drivers side tail light connector is loose like that. Every 4-6 months I have to reinsert the bulb as it works itself loose. The symptoms are similar. The smaller filament does not light up, but once I reinsert the bulb everything works fine for a couple of months. I can tell the contacts on that particular connector is not as sung as the others.

If you want the bulb to fit snugly, bend the metal contact of the bulb out slightly. This will allow for the better connection.
