Default Spinning the Tires

I turned off VSC a few days ago, and I wanted to see how easy the tires would spin without the VSC compared to with it on, and when I stepped on the gas, the tires were spinning like crazy, the thing that concerned me is when the tires were spinning it was switching the gears, it went from first to second, then right as it went into third, the car just stopped spinning them completely, Does the car have a safety switch or somthing like that to stop it from peeling out after second gear?

Doubtful there is a safety switch. You probably got outside of the torque band and your tires 'hooked-up'.

If you were you doing a burn-out, I bet you'd be able to smoke 'em til you ran out of gas.

the lower the gear, the more torque multiplication the transmission delivers to the rear wheels, providing power to overcome friction.........when your tires "hook up", it means that there is no longer enough torque available to overcome traction (friction).

as your transmission shifts up, each successive gear has less effect as far as multiplying power from the engine, and so is less likely to produce wheelspin. reduce traction, spin longer.

there is no "safety switch". it's just plain ol' newtonian physics......

ShowGSLuVv,
Are you trying to wear out your tires to buy new ones? If so, do some donuts in clorox bleach.

My favorite phrase used to be...
"Light em up!"

I have come to believe that doing burn outs or donuts is probably the most damaging thing you can do to your car.

I have a 90 LS that I've done tons of burn outs with, even smoking them for almost 1 minute straight.
After this, I noticed the transmission slips and there is a delay from when you hit the gas and when the rear differential? (whatever the steel bar is that connects the trans to the rear wheels) actually kicks in and makes the tires move.

I've also done one big donut that made the back end click and feel like I was hitting rocks when I drove after.

I don't know, but maybe newer cars with tighter powertrain parts aren't as succeptible to damage from burning out, etc.

Or maybe my car is just really screwed up, anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone done a successful burnout in a GS3. I tried to floor the car the other day with the VSC off and no burnout. . I don't think the engine in the GS3 is powerful enough. Wish I had a 430 right about now.

Talking Burnout-HOW TO

Insiders tip....
How to do a good burnout....
Try Holding your left foot on the brake (all the way down), and holding your right foot on the gas (ALL the way DOWN!!!)

BAMMMMM Massive burnout. Get creative.... Cranks the steering wheel to the left and slowly let off the break. Next thing you know, your spinning and smokn'.

IMPORTANT: Make sure VSC is OFF! Otherwise nothings gonna work right.

Cheers.

mcgong, the gs3 has plenty of power, just not as much as the 4, therefore a little creativity helps

my sc300 would def do the rubber dance, but a manual does help......if you crank the steering all the way to one side or another, THEN from a dead stop stomp on it, you'll get 'em loose

pearlGS's method will work also, tho a little harder on the trans...
