Yes John was a Pioneer for VIP in the states. I believe his Lexus was the First GS in the country to import and install Junction Produce products. His car was loaded with everything they sold back then. When John first got all this stuff back in 2002!, at that time most of us were taking a while to get accustomed to "The VIP Look" and the whole "Stretched Tire" thing was VERY hard to get comfortable with. We were like "Can you really drive the car like that? " John would answer that this was the trend in Japan and that the US was behind. He said "don't worry, this will catch on in the States eventually".
Today John is long gone from the scene and he is currently working for a Hi Tech Company in the Silicon Valley. He shows up by surprise at a meet here and there, but otherwise he's doing the family thing.
Here's a video of our EOS meet back in 2003, where John's car was featured at the end of the video. In the scene there were Hundreds of people watching and each car rolled up to the stage to Demonstrate their exhaust set up. Remember back in 2003, not very many people had seen a car with AirRunners. You can tell by the crowds reaction that what he did came as a BIG SURPRISE to many!
Play this vid with the volume ALL THE WAY UP and preferably with good speakers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0XJ4Z4qpHo

and glen, you got all the dates wrong...
eos1 -- 2002, lake elizabeth (we first knew each other)
eos2 -- 2003, stevens creek (first time eos, feature cars in the front)
eos3 -- 2004, stevens creek (first time big vendor hits, john with his gs)
eos4 -- 2005, stevens creek (last year at stevens creek)
eos5 -- 2006, karting (new bigger location)
and i don't think he started building his car until late 2003 or 2004. i got my gs400 in 2002 and eos1 he wasn't there. first time he showed his jp gs was in 2004 at eos3 (your video). his car wasn't there at eos2 neither.
back in 2002 vip was not really a talk here in the US, less than a few people actually know what they were talking about. john did bring over a lot of the vip culture, but it wasn't until 2004 time frame
GSracerRY
Ryan was the first person with monitors mounted in custom leather Recaro seats in the GS. He was also the first turbo charged GS430. When I saw him last year at HIN, his car has continued to evolve. It now sports a full cage and so many other features I could not list them all. And last year he still drove his car to and from shows.

I LOVE this thread! I am still a relatively new member here (less than 2 years) and it's great to see these old pics and some CL history.
BTW, I keep hearing about the "4 horsemen"...who were they? I think 2 of them were TTURBOPIMP and Flashgordon. What were their cars like? Did anyone ever see them in person? I wonder where these cars are now if they sold them...

DaveGS4 are you reading this?
These guys were the Pioneers of the Big HP Powerplants.

Yup Enkei 3 piece. I later had the centers painted gun metal and the inner / outter barrels polished.
Eventually I changed over to my HRE rims. see below
Thanks GSteg. As an Engineer, it goes against my ethic to do it any other way. Glad some out there can appreciate that.
Here's the old Enkei .
Here's the current set up. As GSteg pointed out, flush without excessive camber using 295/25 -20 tires, on 11 inch rims. I have about 1/8" fender clearance (zero rub on TEIN CS) and 1/8" wheel to caliper clearance for the BBK. Goes to show you don't have to over stretch undersized tires and hack up your fender to make this fit.

Good Times Andy Good Times. I'll eventually be posting about your car and lightwave76's car circa 2004 vs today.
Yours both have some of the most radical cosmetic changes, especially because you both were modded for one style, then you guys did a complete (and in your case literal) facelift to the current style

I remember the 4 horsemen being the 4 that got the SRT twin turbo setup. Wasn't Mr. Johnson one of those guys? Was Mariuz one em or did he do his own thing?
