Default Ichiba - WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!

Hey guys,

I ordered 5 new Wheel Studs (45mm) to properly fit my spacer and replace the one I had already broke from Ichiba. I spent 25 minutes on the phone with the sales rep to ensure they were the correct ones. I paid for 2 day air (39.00 - more then the lugs) since I look lame rolling around with one stock wheel and three 20" since the lug just broke on Sunday.

I recieved them today and took them down to my local performance shop where my buddy from college is the manager. After my car being there an hour he calls and says "dude where did you get these? There's no way these are the correct ones" "I tried everything" "Even the cheap Shi* from Pepboys fit" - This guy knows his **** 9 years as a car mechanic - he only took 2 hours to swap my starter - I have the V8 - impressive.

So well I paid $2.50 per stud and $39 for shipping, spent close to a half hour on the phone, wasted half my day all because a company can't get there fitment together. I'm Pissed. Also, they advertised the silver studs - yeah I received the gold ones.

All in all i want everyone to be very careful when ordering from Ichiba - lets see what they have to say for themselves tomorrow!

Just a heads up!

*****UPDATE******

Have been calling all morning since 10AM Denver time with no answer - phone keeps ringing and ringing. By far this is the worst company I have ever delt with.

I just got 2 sets from them OH NO!!!!!! Hope you get this taken care of, its very frustrating when a company has a lack of attention to detail. If they were more careful this wouldnt have happened.

Probably the case of sending out the wrong ones. Everyone makes mistakes. As long as they send you the correct one, its nothing to sweat about.

What in the world is going on with this company lately? Seems like their products are failing lately. I don't have them myself, but was considering getting them, and then I read your story about poor customer service. Not to mention I also read this thread in the LS forum where the product failed and his wheel came off. Granted, VIP-ish is attributing his tale to not taking proper precautions, but still, seems like their products are snapping alot lately. Here is the other thread to read on his ordeal,, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...e-off-car.html

The above case was due to overtorquing. It happened on OEM lugs before..this is why I never recommend using an impact to tighten lights unless you have a torque stick. These bolts were never meant for high strains at all.

Kics spacers from rays (maker of volk rims) are pretty good. Nice quality but a little bit pricey. but when you pay almost 3k for rims then 300 seems like a small price to insure a good strong fit.

When you pay almost 3k for wheels, you shouldn't need spacers....

Update: I called ICHIBA this morning and no one picked up as of yet. It's 10:09 my time 9:09 their time. I'll give everyone an update on what happens.

All I know is this is really frustrating!

Are the gold studs the new version? They look much sturdier than the older silver ones.

Okay so just spoke with someone up there and he said there lug bolts are 14.35 mm and the stock OEM's are 14.25, he said they make them bigger so they fit - sure! He said they have sold thousands - I asked if they all were returned lol. He supposedly refunded my money - will keep everyone updated if he truly did refund......

So keep this in mind when ordering from this company.

That sounds like a pain in the ***.

With that said, you probably could have gone down to your local O'Reilly's or Autozone to match up one of the studs that did work and just buy them cheap.

When putting on my H&R spacers, I had a stud go bad. No big deal, just went and matched it at O'Reilly's for 2 bucks.

All to say, that most of the time when a wheel stud is faulty, its typically due to over-torquing. Really doesn't matter if you were using Kicks, if you overtorque their studs, you will have the same problem.

All to say, it sucks that you are dealing with this, but I don't see enough reason to throw Ichiba under the bus. They have sold 1,000's of spacers and are very popular with 240 guys as well as VW.
