They should be responsible for that problem. Go consult with them. Your latch is locked that is why it is not closing.

Same problem here. Let us know how you make out. Toyota garage quoted me $225 to replace the cable but the cable itself is only like $30. I'm going to try lubing it first but I'd love to see a DIY on replacing it. I haven't seen one here or on LOC. Good luck.

um good luck on that...they not gonna fix it...it is a normal wear and tear item on our car that has a normal issue. its just a cable.... $35

the price he quotes is about the same price i paid for my cable bout 30-40...cost me another 40 to have it put on!

I took it apart over the weekend. 3-10mm bolts and there is a round nut-type thing in the middle of the latch, I had to grasp that with a pliers....and it turned off like a nut.

Then I sprayed a cleaner in it followed by wd-40. It works fine now, but I will replace the cable when it warms up. July.....
