Default Help hood release...oil change

I"m at a Quick Lube right now, got my oil changed, and now my hood won't shut tight, can I drive with just the safety latch?. I can't search the forum from my phone. Any quick ideas???

Thanks

Dakrri

You can drive, just don't speed!

Saying that mine held up to 80mph once when I'd forgotten it wasn't shut properly.

If it's the same problem I had where the lever in the car stays open as well it should shut itself soon when you hit a bump in the road or if it's really stuck you'll need a new cable - part no 53630‑30250 from the dealer

facing the car (standing in front of your car with the hood open) theres a wire to your right, underneath the sticker, right behind your driver's side headlight (IIRC....). Pull on it, then try closing it.

That's a good point - that wire I quoted the part no for is from a RHD car but assume LHD is the same as the diagram in the EPC was showing it as LHD.

Thanks guys

I'm going to use a few platic wire-ties, straped around the grill and through the bumper facade, to get me back to work and then home. Sounds like I have a weekend project ahead of me. Dang-it

Have a good one....dakrri

I had the same problems a couple weeks ago, I pulled the hood release inside the car firmly a couple of times and it closed.

Ooooopps Sorry...I forgot to mention I did try that and it didn't work.

They had 6 cars waiting behind me so I had to go. And to be honest, I didn't want these guys tring to fix it. The one guy came out with a hammer to hammer the latch. I told him to get another hammer, because evertime he hits the Lexus, I'm going to hit him. What a Dm-A$$

Thanks again....

Have fun with that, probably the same one that just came through MN. Snowing really hard and fast with a bunch of thunder. I brushed off my windows and by the time I was done they were completely covered again. Couldn't see a warehouse 1/2 a block away!

Had this happen on mine and it was broke from the open lever. Took my car to Toyota to do ball joints/tie rods and they fixed it without even telling me LOL. Came out to my car the next day to check my oil like that's whats up LOL

You can both have fun with that flaky white crap. It was a balmy 87° here yesterday. Going to be up over 90° over the weekend. Spring is sprung!
